Rumor & Intrigue: Unsubstantiated gossip of queer Greenwich Village
To book this tour, email me. This one is currently only available for private tours.
Stroll, sleuth and speculate through 20th century Greenwich Village where whispers could mean safety, solidarity and, sometimes, survival.
This tour explores these unverified stories, and we’ll visit sites linked to Eleanor Roosevelt, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, Peggy Guggenheim, Katharine Hepburn and others whose lives and legacies were shaped by both silence and speculation. Together, we’ll ask what we do with these unfounded stories, and why rumor might be one of our most powerful historical tools.
This tour lasts approximately two hours and we will walk 1.5 miles.
